As part of its role in exchanging expertise with affected countries, the LMAC received a Colombian delegation from the Presidential Programme for Mine Action along with Colombian demining officers from 27 to 31 October 2014 in order to share expertise and to develop future cooperation between the affected states.
The delegation paid several visits to the headquarters of the LMAC, met separately with all the departments' head sections and received detailed information about the activity of each and every department of the Center and shared its humanitarian mine action experience. The delegation conducted as well field visits to the Engineering Regiment demining teams to check their performance.
On the occasion of the Colombian delegation's visit, the Colombian Ambassador to Lebanon invited the delegation, the LMAC Director and officers along with UNDP officers over for dinner at her house.
During the gathering, the LMAC Director praised the Colombian delegation for its professionalism in the humanitarian mine action activities, stressing the importance of a future collaboration between the two countries.
In turn, the Colombian Ambassador thanked the Lebanese Army for its concern and warm hospitality and lauded the LMAC for its professional skills and experience considering it as an outstanding example for all affected countries, and hoped that this visit would lead to future cooperation between Lebanon and Colombia in terms of exchanging expertise.
