Visit of a Moroccan Group to Lebanon

In the framework of cooperation and exchange of expertise and information on mines, a delegation from the Kingdom of Morocco visited the country, consisting of officers from the Royal Armed Forces, the Moroccan Red Crescent, and the Ministry of Health of Morocco, the Ministry of Family, Solidarity, Equality and Social Development and the International Committee of the Red Cross from 6/11/2017 to 11/11/2017 where the visit aimed to establish relations with Lebanon Mine Action Center in order to exchange information on future mine action activities. The program of the visit was as follows:

 

On the first day, the delegation started the visit to Lebanon Mine Action Center in Fayyadieh where met with Brigadier General Ziad Nasr Director of LMAC in his office with a number of officers. Brig. General Nasr gave a brief about the latest activities of LMAC, in addition of a brief given by the head of Media and MRE Section and Head of Operations Section about the role and functions of each section.

On the second day, the delegation visited the National Center for Development and Rehabilitation - Abay where the delegation listened to an explanation provided by the Center Director about the work and then explored the sections of the Center and knows the work of each department.

On the third day, the delegation visited the Regional Mine Action Center in Nabatiyeh. The delegation listened to a briefing by the Chief of RMAC-N on how to manage the demining operations in the South and West Bekaa regions. The third day concluded with a visit to a cluster bomb field in the town of Tayr Harfa where the Norwegian People's Aid Association (NPA) is working and has seen the demolition of a cluster bomb found in the field.

On the fourth day, the delegation continued its visit to include the control and quality assurance department at the Lebanon Mine Action Center, and listened to an explanation from head of the QA/QC Section about the work of the department. He then went to the RSHDL in Hammana which is responsible about training civilians and militaries students from Lebanon and various countries, where a brief was given to the delegation on how to work in the school, and listened to a detailed explanation about the role and functions of the school.

On the fifth day, the delegation visited the IMSMA Section at the Lebanon Mine Action Center, where the delegation heard from the head of the Section an explanation of the work and the IMSMA. The delegation then exchanged shields and souvenirs with the LMAC. Then he headed with the head of the Media Section to the Dar Al Shams Theater - Tayouneh where he attended a children's play of awareness of the dangers of mines carried out by a team from Al-Khayyal Arts Society in the presence of school children. The delegation expressed admiration for this work.
