On 10 December 2018, Brigadier General Ziad Nasr, LMAC Director, welcomed H.E. Mrs. Lene Lind, Norwegian Ambassdor to Lebanon, and other representatives from Embassies and NGOs to explain the current situation in the North. During the meeting, LMAC Head of Operations Section  conducted a presentation about “North East Region”; he gave a brief about:

  • History of the area
  • Impact on the community
  • Project preparation
  • Challenges
  • Conclusion

After that, a presentation was held by MAG and NPA about Improvised Landmines:

  • Background of the project
  • Training and Development
  • Current capacity (Field Operations and Operations Support)
  • Community Impact

Mr. Fadi Abilmona insisted on the coordination between UNDP and UNHCR projects and many other agencies like FAO in the area in order to do livelihood projects in case you need any support or consultancy.

H.E. Mrs. Lind said that donors need to know the deadlines; they don’t have an integrated overview about what we need. Also she said that the newly furnished Regional Office in Ras Baalbeck was something very important, and all the funds for the South must be secured to its activities while we must be searching for additional funds for the North.

Head of MRE and IM Sections said that he is planning to do a media center in the LMAC and the ambassador welcomed the idea.
