Lebanon Mine Action Center will hold a Competition for Schools' Students about Mine Awareness. The best drawing will be used by LMAC.

On the occasion of the International Mine Awareness Day on 4th of April 2019, Lebanon Mine Action Center launched the National Mine Risk Education (MRE) awareness campaign on mines, cluster munitions and unexploded ordnance under the Slogan of Promoting Safety and Development in cooperation with the National Steering Committee in all Lebanese territories.

The campaign included the following activities:

  • Send short SMS messages to citizens via mobile phones, the message was: “For a happy and safe life, do not close to mines and cluster munitions and do not touch them, inform immediately the Lebanon Mine Action Center (05/956143)” in coordination with the Ministry of Communications.
  • MRE Awareness Session in LIU to students – Nabatiyeh Branch which includes: awareness messages, show of a fake minefield, a demonstration of manual clearance of mines, description of all clearance equipment and at the end they distribute awareness leaflets to the audience.
  • Door to Door MRE Sessions in Al Wazzani which includes: awareness messages and distribution of awareness leaflets residents.
  • Rally Paper Martyrs Square – Beirut for the residents of the town which includes: awareness messages, show of a fake minefield, a demonstration of manual clearance of mines, description of all clearance equipment and at the end they distribute awareness leaflets to the audiences.

  • MRE Awareness Session in Sports Camp in Deir Qanun Al Nahr for the students which includes: a session on MRE, show of a fake minefield, hand crafting, a demonstration of manual clearance of mines, description of all clearance equipment and at the end they distribute awareness leaflets to the audience.
  • MRE Awareness Session where a Ceremony was held by UNMAS in Naqoura in the occation of the International Mine Awareness Day.
  • MRE Awareness Football match between the mine survivors' team of the Lebanese Association for the Care of the Disabled and British Embassy’s football team in Beirut at AUB’S Greenfield.

  • MRE Awarensss Rally Paper in Qornayel High School including Expedition of mines and cluster munition, and demonstrating clearance of mines manually and by MDD followed by distribution of awareness leaflets.

  • MRE Awareness Session in Elissa School – Breikeh and Jibchit School - Nabatieh where puppet show was given to students.
