As part of the capacity building process, Lebanon Mine Action Center organized a one day training session on the use of the IMSMA NEW GENERATION Version 6 (IMSMA NG V.6) concerning new upgraded version featuring new reporting tools and methods that was recently developed by the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD). The training was conducted by Head of Information Management Section and held at LMAC on 5 November 2018.

The training aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of IM Officers from NGOs (operators), thus improving the whole mine action work and taking it into a higher level of effectiveness and efficiency.

On 19 September 2018, the Norwegian Embassy in Lebanon conducted a Mine Action Forum -2- on clearance of mines and cluster munitions at the Four Seasons Hotel – Beirut, under the supervision of the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining center (GICHD), where Mrs. Helen Gray managed the workshop, activities, which included the following:

  • Speech of Br. General Ziad Nasr where he thanked the Norwegian Ambassador for her support in the success of this workshop; Br. Gen. Nasr also thanked all supporting countries and donors for all their efforts in the Lebanon Mine Action Program, and he urged everyone to a more support to the center in order to complete of the agreements according to the a time frame in the mine action conflict.

At the end of the workshop, Mrs. Gray pointed that she will prepare draft recommendations and results of the workshop, and they will be discussed with the Norwegian Ambassador and the LMAC. On her turn, H.E. Mrs. Lind thanked the participated countries and Br. General Ziad Nasr for his efforts.

 

 

The Arab Regional Cooperation Program (ARCP in the cooperation with the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), the National Humanitarian Demining Program for Development in Mauritania (PNDHD)  and the Lebanon Mine Action Center (LMAC), organized a workshop on International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) in Nouakchott – Mauritania on 23-24 October 2018.

The workshop was attended by representatives from: Mauritania, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Morocco and Sudan.

On October 18, 2018, Br. General Ziad Nasr, Director of LMAC, and Mrs. Lene Lind, the Royal Norwegian Ambassador, visited the North Eastern border operations.

The first meeting was held at NPA base followed by a meeting and comprehensive presentation given by MAG at their Base in Ras Baalbeck.  The visit was finalized with a field visit in the outskirts of Arsal.
