On the foothills of Mount Lebanon, in Hammana (about forty minutes from Beirut), the LMAC in close collaboration with the French Armed Forces is establishing a Regional School for Humanitarian Demining in Lebanon (RSHDL) in 2015.

In a country and region where civilians are affected by the scourge of landmines, cluster munitions and explosive remnants of war, the school will respond to vital operational needs: it will train specialists, civilians and military humanitarian deminers. The center will have the capacity to accommodate about forty students from Lebanon and the region. The school will be a valuable tool for regional dissemination of expertise and know-how in the field of humanitarian demining.

During the preparatory phase, a senior French officer specialist in humanitarian demining has been assigned on August 2013 at the Lebanese Mine Action Center (LMAC). Following this measure, the RSHDL will witness at the end of the year the first “Train the Trainers” class conducted by a team of French military engineers from France, Angers.
