As part of its academic cooperation with the American University of Beirut (AUB), the LMAC received a delegation from the Faculty of Health Sciences at the AUB, headed by Professor Joumana Kalout, on January 22nd, 2015. This visit had for purpose to discuss the management and coordination of the development process and higher education in the context of humanitarian mine action activities.

The delegation was shortly briefed on the mine problem in Lebanon as well as on the LMAC’s role and activity, and visited the DCA demining teams operating in Itat village, Aley area to witness their activity and performance.

This -first of its kind- academic cooperation between the LMAC and the AUB aims to incorporate a new course on “the management and coordination of the development process” into the higher education curriculum.
