To facilitate the transition from GIS version 9.3 to version 10.1, two training sessions were organized for 15 LMAC staff, 2 Engineering Regiment staff and 3 UNDP staff on GIS version 10.1 beginners (from 28 to 30 September 2015) and advanced (on 18 and 21 November 2015) at the LMAC premises.
The training aimed at enabling staff members to better prepare tasks delivered to demining organizations; obtain more accurate data to be analyzed, manipulated, and interpreted; improve the quality control of the work done, and increase confidence in the overall quality of the work.
It is worth mentioning that ARC GIS 10.1 is used to analyze visual data and serves in the clearance process where it facilitates identifying and prioritizing hazards. This software features new tools and helps improving the whole Mine action work.
