On 12/11/2017, in the Hamra-Beirut, organized by the Beirut Marathon Association, the Lebanon Mine Action Center (LMAC), a UNMAS team working in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and members of the National Steering Committees participated in the activities of the Beirut Marathon in 2017. LMAC held a platform on the course of the 8 km race, showing pictures of mines, cluster bombs, unexploded ordnance, warning signs and a mannequin wearing a PPE and Visor holding a detector. The platform was briefed on the dangers of mines and how to prevent their dangers and distributed flyers, posters and awareness materials from different mine risk to the participants in the race targeting different age groups, in addition to broadcast patriotic songs by the way.
The activity attracted the admiration of the citizens through the slogans and statement they said to the army, in addition of the taking pictures and dancing "Dabkeh" in front of the podium. It should be noted that about 48 thousand contestants from different age groups from more than 100 Arab and foreign countries participated in the race in addition to Lebanon.
Balloons with #together against mines were distributed to the participants.
