LMAC celebrating International Day for disabilities
On the 3rd of December 2016, LMAC venerated the international day for disabilities with collaboration with international and national partners and MVA steering committee members. During this day, LMAC took the opportunity to express its persistent effort to reduce the intensity of mine victims ‘pain and provide an optimistic view of life.
Several activities took place during this day starting by a gathering at the University of balamand joining LMAC director and the Head of MVA section, the MVA steering committee members and representatives of UNDP, UNICEF and EU in addition to a group of 80 mine victims survivors who spoke the importance of reinforcing the law 220/2000. Mine victims was provided with the opportunity to sell their own hand craft as means of reintegrating them into the society and allowing them to feel as productive members of this life. In addition to that, the participants listened to set of speeches delivered by LMAC and International and national partners, all emphasizing the need to stand with mine victims and increase the international assistance in this context. At the end of this day, mine victims impressed the audiences with their own journey with their injuries and how do they overcome all the obstacles with their perseverance and endless struggle to resume their normal life.
Other pertinent activities following this event:
- On 3/12/2016, Under the direct supervision of LMAC, Al jarha Association in collaboration with the MVA steering committee members and the municipality of BintJbeil organized an event in BintJbeil, southern Lebanon to venerate mine victims and reintegrate them into the society.
- On 10/12/2016, , the Islamic Resala scouts association and LWAH in collaboration with LMAC and MVA steering committee organized an event in Tyre, southern Lebanon providing mine victims an opportunity to express themselves through their selling hand- made craft and telling their own stories and claims.
- On 18/12/2016, the National rehabilitation and development Center under the supervision of LMAC organized an event in Baakline, Chouf, Mount Lebanon area gathering mine victims to express the progress made in the provision of medical assistance to mine victims.
