DFID Donations Evaluation

On 18/3/2019, a British delegation and Director of the Norwegian People's Aid Society visited the Lebanon Mine Action Center at the Shukri Ghanem-Fayyadieh barracks. Brigadier Ziad Nasr welcomed the visiting delegation and presented a brief presentation in the presence of LMAC officers and Ms. Ariane Almas of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) discussed the achievements of the Lebanese Mine Action Program, the future plan and the challenges facing it. Major Fadi Wazen, Head of Operations, Quality and Quality, and Major Ali Makki, Head of Mine Risk Media and Mine Awareness, briefed lectures on the Center's activities in humanitarian demining, mine risk education and information management and the future plan in these areas.

The British delegation expressed its admiration for the professional work of the Lebanese Mine Action Center in this area.

At the end of the visit, Brig. Gen. Nasr thanked the British government for its generous support to Lebanon and wished the delegation to continue to increase support for Lebanon in order to preserve the safety of the citizens.

Visit of Mr. Herman Van Uum to LMAC

Brig. General Ziad Nasr welcomed Mr. Herman Van Uum at the Lebanon Mine Action Center where he informed him about the ongoing activities for LMAC.

22nd Meeting of Mine Action Directors and United Nations Advisers (NDM-UN) in Geneva

Brigadier General Ziad Nasr, LMAC Director, accompanied with Brigadier General Jihad al Bechelany, RSHDL Commander and Mrs. Ariane Elmas, UNDP Mine Action Advisor, attended the 22^nd Meeting of National Mine Action Directors and United Nations Advisers (NDM-UN) from 5-8 February 2019 in the Palais des Nations at the United Nations Office at Geneva.

This meeting provided an opportunity for delegates to network and exchange best practices and lessons learnt in response to current trends in mine action, under the theme "Step Up for Mine Action". Also this event presented the critical role national mine action authorities and regional centers play in support of the emergency of national/regional expertise to respond to the impact of explosive ordnance contamination including victim assistance.

During the meeting, Br. General Nasr shared best practices and lessons learnt from the development and implementation of Strategy and will discussed how to foster greater partnerships within the sector.
