On 9/11/2017, and as part of the support of the international community for Lebanon in the field of humanitarian mine action operations, and in the follow-up to the humanitarian operations of demining funded by the Japanese government, the Japanese Ambassador in Lebanon and the Chairman of Jamal Trust Bank and the President of the Lebanese – Japanese Friendship Association visited the Regional Mine Action Center - Nabatieh, where the delegation listened to a brief of the work of the RMAC-N and its role in the in humanitarian operations for mine action in the South and Western Bekaa.

A workshop to support Lebanon during the conference of the representatives of the States Parties to the Convention on Cluster Munitions was held on 17/11/2016 joining together the ambassador of Norway in Lebanon, EU program coordinator, representatives of Holland and Norway Ministries of external affairs, representative of Japanese Embassy, UNDP, GICHD and other demining organizations. A speech has been delivered by LMAC head of operations department clarifying the different means of the demining process adopted by the LMAC and methodology used to land release and the progress towards improving the national mine action standards and managing the overall IMSMA database.

 

In the framework of cooperation and exchange of expertise and information on mines, a delegation from the Kingdom of Morocco visited the country, consisting of officers from the Royal Armed Forces, the Moroccan Red Crescent, and the Ministry of Health of Morocco, the Ministry of Family, Solidarity, Equality and Social Development and the International Committee of the Red Cross from 6/11/2017 to 11/11/2017 where the visit aimed to establish relations with Lebanon Mine Action Center in order to exchange information on future mine action activities. As part of the interest of friendly countries in supporting the demining operations in Lebanon, the military attaché at the Saudi Arabia Embassy in Lebanon visited the Lebanese Mine Action Center in Fayyadia on 25/10/2017. Brig. Gen. Nasr and the officers in the center welcomed the attaché and highlighted on the problems and the challenges that are facing them in the area of demining, he also shed the light on the achievements till date, after this the two parties discussed ways of cooperation related to the humanitarian activities.
